Stage Manager – Summer Drama Camps (4 positions) | Recreation Leader I & II (part-time, temporary) 65 views

The Position: Under the supervision of the Senior Recreation Program Specialist, the Recreation Leaders I and II will perform various production duties in the following program areas:

  • Musical Performance Camp – Winnie The Pooh KIDS (ages 5-11)
  • Musical Performance Camp – Little Mermaid JR. (ages 8-13)
  • Musical Performance Camp – Bring It On The Musical (Full Length ages 12-18)
  • Teen Playwrights’ Summer Workshop (ages 11-17)

Typical Duties include

  • Facilitating theater activities according to prepared production schedule
  • Supporting Summer Drama Camp Director with notes and other production elements
  • Assisting with camp set up, implementation and clean-up
  • Assisting in acquiring and organizing various properties (props) for the productions
  • Calling show cues and preparing production notes for the cast and crew
  • Assisting with production planning and implementation
  • Attending mandatory training and staff meetings
  • Interacting and providing information to parents/guardians of participants and the public
  • Administer first aid as required and maintain a safe program environment and facility

Staff will work from June 4 through July 28 depending on assignment. A Recreation Leader I and II (Stage Manager) typically works Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 1:30pm. Some afternoon hours will be required for planning and production meetings. Work schedule and the number of work hours per week is not guaranteed, and is dependent upon camp enrollment and the needs of the program as determined by City staff. Additional program work hours may be available throughout the summer season and beyond, but are not guaranteed.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least two years of live theater experience; on stage and/or behind the scenes
  • Have effective writing and organizational skills
  • Have the ability to supervise and lead youth of various ages
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively and possess excellent interpersonal skills while interacting with program participants, co-workers, supervisors, and the general public
  • Be able to take initiative on various tasks while taking direction from lead staff
  • Be able to assist and interact with program participants and City employees with tact and courtesy, and establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Be able to climb stairs, squat and lift 40 lbs

This is a part-time, temporary position.  The selected employees cannot work more than 1,000 hours in a fiscal year.  This position offers no benefits, but does contribute to Apple and  Medicare.  Certifications for CPR, First Aid, and TB are required prior to starting employment with the City.
